Welcome to Piano Invictus, the Unconquerable Piano.
Listen in the Library
My name is Shem and music is my life. My mother sang to me as a baby and I was quickly smothered in music on the radio, in the elevator, on the street, and everywhere. I started playing piano when I was four but really started taking myself seriously at 11. I play by ear but these last few years I have started sight-reading which opened up the other side of my music world. I struggled sight-reading before with previous teachers but then I changed teachers to someone who taught me how to make the notes "jump off the page". I have started branching out from there: Mozart's Turkish March, Bach's Inventions, Joplin's Maple Leaf Rag, the list continues to grow.
Now, I have started to seriously write my own compositions that I record, along with some improv.
Enjoy
